I think I'm most excited about having the opportunity to visit such an extreme and beautiful environment and I'm looking forward to the simplicity of life whilst on the race; all we will have to concern ourselves with will be sleeping, eating, navigating and walking. This makes it all sound so easy! What made you decide to do the Scott Dunn Polar Challenge? For the personal challenge and because I believe that Team Pink Lady® really do have the ability and determination to complete the race. What motivates or inspires you generally? Any kind of challenge especially those with a competitive aspect. I have always been inspired by stories of extreme physical achievements. What do you think will be the hardest part about the Scott Dunn Polar Challenge? Walking for at least 11 hours every day. The cold. What has been the hardest part about training? The frustration with not being able to train in a similar environment to the one in which we will race! What skills will you bring to the team? An understanding of the team work required for 3 people to share a tent in an extreme environment for a month! Thoughts on woman in the Arctic? Men & woman can both achieve incredible things in Arctic environments - the difference between the sexes is their approach to the physical challenge. What will you miss the most? Not being able to pick up my mobile and tell my family what it's like. |
